Toronto Tempo’s guard, Kiki Rice, has been selected for this season’s WNBA all-rookie team, as announced by the league on Wednesday. Rice made appearances in 28 games, starting in 20 of them during her first season, where she maintained an average of 13.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 0.8 steals per game over 27.1 minutes of play. Her performance placed her fourth among rookie players in scoring, with shooting percentages of 47.2% from the field, 35.1% from beyond the arc, and 86.9% from the free-throw line.
After sustaining a Grade 3 left ankle sprain in a game on June 3, Rice was sidelined for almost two months before returning on July 28. She impressively scored in double digits in 12 out of her final 13 games of the season. Rice’s standout moment came on September 24 when she achieved a career-high of 28 points against the Connecticut Sun, making her one of nine rookies in WNBA history to score 28 points or more without a turnover.
Having been the sixth overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft and the first draft selection in Tempo history, Rice was also recognized on The Associated Press’ all-rookie team last month. Tempo’s general manager, Monica Wright Rogers, expressed immense pride in Rice’s achievements, acknowledging her talent, composure, and dedication to the team’s success. Rice’s continuous growth, resilience, and impact on both offense and defense have solidified her as a key player in Toronto’s basketball journey.
