Netflix’s “The One About Matthew Perry” Docuseries Reveals Untold Story

Published:

After the passing of Matthew Perry in 2023, fans were shocked by the revelations of his ketamine addiction, which contrasted with the beloved character he portrayed on the popular show “Friends.” To shed light on his life beyond the sitcom, Netflix will launch a three-part docuseries titled “The One About Matthew Perry.”

The series will delve into Perry’s evolution from a rising comedic talent to his iconic role on “Friends,” featuring never-before-heard accounts from close associates, including his sister Mia Perry Bowick, a grief specialist who has openly discussed her mourning process after his demise.

Mia Perry Bowick shared, “It’s taken time for me to feel ready to share these memories and what it was like to love Matthew through all the complexity of his life — to see him as a whole person, not just as Chandler, and not just as someone who struggled with addiction.”

Tragically, Perry was discovered deceased in his backyard hot tub at the age of 54 due to a ketamine overdose. Several individuals have pleaded guilty to charges related to supplying him with the drug, with one of them, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, appealing his 30-month prison sentence for selling Perry ketamine.

The forthcoming docuseries will not only feature fond recollections of Perry but will also provide revealing insights into his personal battles, honoring his legacy of transparency and advocacy. The series is set to premiere on October 27.
