A pedestrian involved in a suspected hit-and-run near Sackville earlier this month has passed away due to the injuries sustained, as confirmed by the RCMP. The victim, a 51-year-old resident of Shediac, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition on August 6 following a reported hit-and-run incident along Route 2 near the Walker Road junction at approximately 5 a.m., according to the RCMP.
The individual, who was carrying two bags and dressed in dark attire, including a black hoodie, during the incident, succumbed to the injuries, as announced by the RCMP in their recent update. Authorities are urging anyone who may have been traveling on Route 2 between Amherst, N.S., and Sackville from 6 p.m. on August 5 to 5 a.m. on August 6 and possesses relevant information to reach out to the New Brunswick RCMP.
The RCMP noted that the pedestrian was discovered in a construction zone, although no construction activities were taking place at that specific location during the time of the incident.
