The nomination period for the 2026 municipal election in Thunder Bay has officially ended, with a diverse group of candidates vying for various positions. Scheduled for October 26, the election will determine the mayor, five at-large councillors, seven ward councillors, and trustees for local school boards.

The upcoming council will see significant turnover, as Mayor Ken Boshcoff and councillors Shelby Ch’ng, Michael Zussino, Dominic Pasqualino, and Kristen Oliver have decided not to seek re-election.
