“Apple Unveils iPhone Duo Foldable Phone at $2,999”

Published:

Apple introduced its latest innovation, the Duo foldable phone, marking a significant evolution in its flagship product lineup. The Duo boasts a passport-like design with rounded edges and unfolds into a wide horizontal screen that can also be used vertically. Featuring a smaller front screen when closed, the Duo is Apple’s thinnest phone when open, showcasing a sleek and modern design.

Priced at $2,999 globally, the Duo starts at $1,999 in the U.S., equivalent to approximately $2,760 in Canadian dollars at the current exchange rate. The phone is set for pre-orders starting on October 17, with availability from October 23.

Described as a groundbreaking transformation, Apple’s new CEO, John Ternus, emphasized the innovative design and user-friendly experiences of the iPhone Duo. Ternus criticized existing foldable phones for their limitations and highlighted the Duo’s custom hinge, dual displays, consistent aspect ratio, and titanium body, aiming to deliver an iPad-like experience in a pocket-sized device.

The reveal event, led by Ternus, marks a major redesign of Apple’s flagship products since the removal of the physical home button from the iPhone X in 2017. Apple’s revenue largely relies on iPhone sales, accounting for over half of the company’s total sales in the recent fiscal year.

Additionally, Apple unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models, emphasizing their advanced features and starting prices of $1,749 and $1,899, respectively. The company also introduced new AI-focused enhancements, including the Apple Reference Image standard for image authenticity verification and the A20 Pro chip for improved AI capabilities on iPhones.

Furthermore, Apple showcased updated AirPods models with noise cancellation starting at $179 and additional features like wireless charging and on-stem volume control. The event also highlighted health-centric upgrades with the introduction of the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4.

As Apple seeks to redefine luxury tech with its foldable devices, Ternus will play a key role in convincing consumers of the value proposition of the $3,000 Duo phone, setting a new standard for premium mobile technology.
