Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen expressed frustration over receiving unsolicited beauty advice. Frederiksen, 48, took to Instagram after returning from Ukraine, where she experienced air raid sirens amidst the ongoing conflict, only to be confronted with a message from a plastic surgeon offering to address a perceived flaw on her nose.
Frederiksen revealed that she has been bombarded with messages critiquing her appearance over the years, including comments about her teeth, hair, and a supposed “wart” on her nose, along with suggestions for Botox injections. She shared a screenshot of the plastic surgeon’s message without disclosing his identity.
Responding to the offer, Frederiksen asserted her contentment with her body, declaring that she does not require a male plastic surgeon’s opinion on it. As a Social Democrat serving as Denmark’s second female prime minister, Frederiksen is currently in her third term, making her one of Europe’s longest-serving leaders. Since mid-2019, she has been leading the EU and NATO member country.
Frederiksen has maintained a strong stance against U.S. President Donald Trump’s interests in Greenland, a Danish territory, and has continued to support Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. Emphasizing her acceptance of her body as she nears 50, Frederiksen urged people to engage in more meaningful conversations rather than focusing on her physical appearance.
The prime minister expressed feeling indignant about the unsolicited beauty advice and sent a message of solidarity to those facing similar pressures. She encouraged people to discuss more substantial topics rather than fixating on superficial attributes.
