Drivers leaving downtown Vancouver should expect potential delays as the city commences extensive repairs on the Georgia Viaduct starting Friday. The primary impact of the project will be the closure of the viaduct’s exit ramp to Main Street, expected to last about three months. The repair work includes replacing expansion joints on the viaduct deck and ramps, with the entire project scheduled for completion by the following spring.
During construction, there will be reduced lanes and possible delays, along with extended closures of the Georgia Viaduct sidewalk. Pedestrians are advised to use the sidewalk on the Dunsmuir Viaduct as an alternative route. The construction activities will not disrupt the bike lane or vehicle traffic lanes on the Dunsmuir Viaduct. Additionally, occasional short-term lane closures on Pacific Boulevard beneath the viaduct may occur to facilitate the repair work.
