A tragic incident occurred in Ajax on Tuesday resulting in the death of a 28-year-old pedestrian following a collision, as reported by Durham police. The authorities were alerted at approximately 8:40 p.m. in the vicinity of Salem Road and Chambers Drive where a man on rollerblades was hit by a truck driven by a 60-year-old man, according to a press release issued by Durham police on Wednesday. Sadly, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The collision took place as the truck, a 2027 Freightliner, had just exited the westbound Highway 401 off-ramp at Salem Road and was making a right turn. The driver of the truck stayed at the location and has been cooperating with the ongoing police investigation.
Authorities are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and provide information either directly to the police or through Crime Stoppers.
