“PM Carney to Unveil $1 Trillion Investment Showcase”

Published:

A variety of potential investment opportunities will be showcased by Prime Minister Mark Carney at an upcoming investment summit in Toronto. The projects, detailed in a 66-page prospectus obtained by CBC News, cover a range of sectors including conventional and clean energy, mining, marine infrastructure, digital technology, advanced manufacturing, and transportation.

The aim of the summit, scheduled for September 14 and 15, is to attract $1 trillion in investments from international investors and Canadian business leaders. Notable projects include a proposed high-speed rail line between Edmonton and Calgary, a floating LNG terminal on the B.C. coast, and a pipeline from Alberta to the Pacific Ocean.

The prospectus outlines specific projects such as the expansion of the Port of Churchill, offshore wind projects in Nova Scotia, and the Ksi Lisims LNG terminal project. Additionally, the document highlights opportunities in areas like float glass manufacturing, night-vision technology, and satellite technology.

While some projects are at an advanced stage of development, others are still in the planning phase. The investment opportunities also extend to sectors like clean energy, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing. Notably absent from the list are the Alto high-speed rail project and plans to privatize airports.

The summit aims to attract investments in various sectors to bolster Canada’s economic growth and attract global capital amid trade disruptions and geopolitical uncertainties. Carney’s government seeks to diversify Canada’s energy exports and strengthen economic ties beyond the United States.
