Five individuals were transported to the hospital with critical injuries after a three-vehicle crash in Elgin County on Thursday evening, as reported by the Ontario Provincial Police. The incident occurred at the junction of John Wise Line and Fairview Road around 6:15 p.m., prompting the response of emergency services.

In a video shared from the scene, OPP Constable Jeff Beaumaster expressed regret over the collision at the intersection of John Wise Line and Fairview Road. According to authorities, a pickup truck and an SUV collided at the intersection, subsequently impacting a second stationary SUV.

Constable Beaumaster explained that the initial collision involved the two vehicles, which then struck the parked SUV. The first SUV, carrying five occupants, was involved in the crash, resulting in all individuals being rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. Meanwhile, the three occupants of the pickup truck were also hospitalized but with non-life-threatening injuries. The two individuals in the second SUV did not require hospitalization, with only minor injuries possibly sustained.
