A series of missiles and drones launched by Russia targeted Ukraine’s capital and the surrounding area, causing injuries to at least 16 individuals overnight and into Thursday morning, as confirmed by local authorities. The Kyiv City Military Administration reported that the attacks occurred at over 10 different locations, resulting in injuries to a young girl and boy aged 10 and 12, respectively.
Ukraine’s Air Force announced that it successfully neutralized or destroyed 131 Russian aerial targets during the overnight assault. The primary regions under attack were Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa, with strikes recorded at 36 locations and debris falling at five sites. The assault involved ballistic and cruise missiles, in addition to 157 drones and decoys.
Russia’s Defence Ministry stated that the military targeted metallurgical and electronics plants, military-industrial complex factories, and energy and transport facilities in the Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa regions. Furthermore, the ministry reported that in the port of Chornomorsk, three bulk carriers and a ferry transporting supplies for the Ukrainian military were struck.
In Odesa, seven individuals, including two children, were injured, as reported by Ukraine’s State Emergency Service. Damage was evident in apartments on the 14th to 16th floors of a residential building. Additionally, a residential building in Odesa was destroyed, while warehouses, a kindergarten, cars, and garages sustained damage at other locations.
Local authorities reported damage in various districts of Kyiv, including Dniprovsky, Solomyansky, and Darnitsky. The Podilsky district experienced damage to a non-residential building’s roof. In the Kyiv region, civilian areas and infrastructure were targeted in districts such as Obukhiv, Brovary, Fastiv, and Bucha, resulting in damage to 33 sites, with the most severe impact observed in Brovary and Fastiv districts.
The damaged sites included private residences, warehouses, production facilities, and vehicles. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties or injuries in these areas.
