A man aged 59, who was homeless, passed away in Granby, Quebec, earlier this week, as reported by the local authorities. Police responded to a call around 8:15 p.m. on Monday regarding an unconscious man discovered behind a commercial establishment on Principale Street. The man was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities mentioned that the man was recognized for lacking a permanent residence.
The coroner’s office will conduct an investigation to determine the circumstances and causes of his death, which law enforcement believes was non-criminal. In a separate incident on Wednesday, a woman in her 50s lost her life in a fire at an encampment in Montreal-Nord.
The mayor of Montreal expressed a desire to collaborate with the provincial government to address the pressing homelessness issue.
