A man facing multiple criminal charges in British Columbia has been apprehended in the N.W.T. Iqbal Singh Dulay, 33, has been accused of drug trafficking and possessing property worth over $5,000 acquired through illegal means, following his arrest in Inuvik on October 3. The Inuvik RCMP reported that Dulay was taken into custody after search warrants were executed at two different locations in town, specifically on Bompas Street and Bonnetplume Road. During the searches, police discovered around $5,000 in cash, a firearm, and drug-related items at one site, and an additional $1,000 in cash along with drug trafficking paraphernalia at the other location. Authorities have indicated that the investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be forthcoming.
Moreover, RCMP mentioned that Dulay has an active warrant in Surrey, B.C. According to Sgt. Lindsey Houghton from the Surrey Police Service, Dulay is wanted in British Columbia for various offenses including assault causing bodily harm, assault by choking, assault with a weapon, forcible imprisonment, uttering threats, and non-compliance with probation. Houghton described Dulay as having a substantial criminal background involving violent and other criminal activities. Although Dulay has not been convicted in Surrey or Inuvik for these charges, court records in British Columbia reveal a history of convictions dating back to 2013 for offenses like uttering threats, assaults, and breaching court orders.
Court documents indicate that Dulay’s next court appearance is scheduled for October 13 in Yellowknife. Julie Plourde, an N.W.T. RCMP spokesperson, confirmed that Dulay will remain in the territory to address his pending charges. Plourde stated that once his N.W.T. legal matters are resolved, discussions will take place with the relevant law enforcement agencies to determine the process for his potential return to British Columbia to face the outstanding warrants.
