DonnaJean Wilde, a 61-year-old grandmother of 12 and retired teacher from Welling, Alberta, recently achieved a remarkable feat at the Huntsman World Senior Games in Utah. She broke her own Guinness World Record for the longest time holding an abdominal plank position by maintaining the position for an impressive five hours. This achievement surpassed her previous record of four hours, 30 minutes, and 11 seconds set in 2024.
Wilde, who expressed her love for fitness, described how she started planking about 15 years ago when she had a broken arm and needed a way to stay fit. Despite the initial challenges, she embraced planking and gradually increased her endurance over the years with the support of her family. Her dedication and continuous practice led her to break the Guinness World Record in 2024.
In addition to her plank record, Wilde also set another record in the same year by completing 1,575 pushups in one hour, earning her the title for the most pushups in one hour (female). She shared that her passion for pushups grew while training for her plank routines, where she used to do 500 pushups daily.
Wilde’s commitment to fitness goes beyond breaking records. She now planks daily for several hours, utilizing the time to multitask by engaging in activities like reading, writing, and pursuing her master’s degree. In fact, she even authored a book titled “From Minutes To Hours: I Wrote This Book While Planking,” which was published last year.
Despite her extraordinary achievements, Wilde remains humble and continues to inspire others with her dedication to fitness. She emphasized the importance of consistency and practice in achieving such feats and encouraged others to pursue their fitness goals with determination.
