Mike Morreale is set to make a comeback in the CFL as the new president of the Ottawa Redblacks. The announcement of his appointment was made by TSN. Although CBC News reached out to the Redblacks for confirmation, they declined to comment on the report.
A Hamilton native, Morreale played for 12 seasons with the Toronto Argonauts and Tiger-Cats, winning two Grey Cups during his career. He was recognized as the league’s top Canadian in 1998 and was honored with the Tom Pate Memorial Award for his exceptional contributions both on and off the field.
Following his time as a player, Morreale held various roles within the CFLPA, including marketing director and president. In 2017, he co-founded the Canadian Elite Basketball League and served as its first commissioner until October 2025.
The Redblacks recently ended a 22-game losing streak with a victory in their final home game of the season. Adrian Sciarra, the previous team president, stepped down from his position in August.
