Oliver Bearman was visibly distressed after a high-speed collision during the Japanese Grand Prix. The British racer urgently signaled for help from track marshals after his Formula 1 car spun out of control and hit a barrier.
Two marshals assisted Bearman in walking after he was removed from the Haas car, showing signs of significant pain. He limped and collapsed behind the barrier, clutching his right lower leg and ankle, prompting the medical car to be dispatched.
Bearman was taken to the circuit medical center for further treatment, where X-rays revealed no fractures, only a bruise on his right knee. The Grand Prix was delayed to retrieve the damaged Haas vehicle and repair the barrier it struck.
The race resumed with Kimi Antonelli leading on lap 28, benefitting from the safety car timing. Antonelli maintained his lead, with Oscar Piastri in second place but later losing ground. Lewis Hamilton’s aggressive driving affected George Russell’s position.
Russell expressed frustration over team radio, as his pit stop coincided with the safety car appearance. In contrast, Antonelli’s timing was advantageous, regaining the lead. Russell faced more issues during the race, losing positions to Charles Leclerc.
Piastri held second place ahead of Hamilton, while Lando Norris and Max Verstappen struggled to make progress. Verstappen encountered difficulties overtaking Gasly’s Alpine.
