Two teenagers who were reportedly subjected to a terrifying kidnapping ordeal where they were forced at gunpoint to dig their own graves have been discharged from the hospital, recent reports reveal.
The two boys, aged 14 and 16, were allegedly kidnapped and held captive for hours in a secluded area near Nantes, France. Authorities believe the incident is connected to ongoing conflicts between rival drug gangs.
The victims were reportedly taken in a vehicle to a wooded area, where they were stripped, physically assaulted, threatened, and coerced to dig graves under duress before managing to escape and seek help at a nearby residence.
Law enforcement has launched an inquiry into the incident, categorizing it as a case of “violence and kidnapping with a weapon” that occurred on January 2.
After being abducted around 1 am and transported to the location, the ordeal concluded approximately two hours later when the teenagers sought assistance from a resident in La Chapelle-sur-Erdre.
The homeowner alerted the authorities upon observing the boys’ injuries, including cuts on their hands and faces. One of the teenagers had also sustained a stab wound in the thigh, as confirmed by Antoine Leroy from the Nantes prosecutor’s office, who stated that the victims are now out of the hospital. Leroy emphasized the incident’s link to drug-related offenses and turf disputes.
No arrests have been made in connection to the incident, which is the latest in a series of alarming events involving young individuals amid the ongoing drug-related conflicts in France. Experts warn that criminal organizations are increasingly exploiting children as young as 12 for illicit drug trafficking operations.
In a separate incident last month, eight individuals were apprehended on suspicion of murder after a live-streamed social media video depicted the death of a teenager whose body was subsequently burned.
The deceased 19-year-old’s partially charred remains were discovered by passersby in a remote village near Nîmes, southern France, showing signs of a deliberate execution, with gunshot wounds, including one to the head, and evidence of post-mortem burning.
Investigations revealed that the victim’s death was broadcast live on social media as part of an escalating gang conflict in Nîmes. The surge in violent crimes in the region has been attributed to the influx of gangs from Marseille, prompting the implementation of a city-wide curfew for individuals under 16 last summer.
