Tiger Woods has reportedly entered a plea of not guilty following an arrest resulting from a two-vehicle rollover incident in Florida on Friday. The renowned 15-time major champion is facing charges related to driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to undergo a lawful test.
The 50-year-old Woods overturned his vehicle while attempting to pass a tow truck on a narrow road, causing his dark SUV to end up on its side. Despite registering a 0.00 on a breathalyzer test, he allegedly refused to undergo a urinalysis.
After spending a mandatory period of eight hours at Martin County Jail, Woods has been released and has returned home.
According to initial reports from TMZ, Woods has submitted a guilty plea based on court records accessed. His legal representation will be provided by attorney Douglas Duncan.
This news follows recent remarks made by former President Donald Trump to the New York Post, where he expressed his belief in Woods’ well-being, stating that the golfer is managing his challenges effectively.
Sheriff John Budensiek of Martin County clarified that there were no suspicions of alcohol involvement in the incident which was confirmed by the breathalyzer results. However, Woods faces charges due to his refusal to comply with a urine test, leading to the DUI allegations along with property damage.
Budensiek detailed the sequence of events surrounding the crash, highlighting the involvement of the Jupiter Island Police Department and the subsequent investigation that led to Woods’ identification at the scene. Despite Woods citing previous injuries and surgeries as factors, he was arrested after exhibiting signs of impairment during roadside tests.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the crash, with both Woods and the other driver reportedly unharmed.
