“Host of ‘Chicken Shop Date’ Show Bids Farewell”

Published:

Amelia Dimoldenberg, the host of the renowned YouTube talk show “Chicken Shop Date,” has decided to bring her show to a close after more than a decade of entertaining audiences with interviews and light-hearted interactions over fried chicken. In an emotional Instagram post, Dimoldenberg expressed her gratitude to her followers for their support throughout her journey, describing the show as her personal romantic comedy. She acknowledged that while she never envisioned ending “Chicken Shop Date,” she feels it is time to embark on a new chapter.

Having launched the show 12 years ago with interviews of musicians in Britain’s underground rap scene, Dimoldenberg’s success grew as she engaged with a variety of celebrities, such as Keke Palmer, Conan O’Brien, Paul McCartney, and Jack Harlow, amassing nearly 3.5 million subscribers on her YouTube channel. “Chicken Shop Date” features Dimoldenberg taking celebrities on informal dates at fried chicken shops in London, where she poses a mix of flirty, humorous, and sometimes awkward questions, generating a casual and playful atmosphere akin to a first date rather than a formal interview.

Dimoldenberg’s interviews have included notable Canadians like Ryan Reynolds, who amusingly misidentified a character from his wife Blake Lively’s show “Gossip Girl,” and Shania Twain, who disclosed never having met Brad Pitt despite referencing him in her famous song “That Don’t Impress Me Much.” Beyond the chicken shop setting, Dimoldenberg’s YouTube success has led to additional opportunities, such as covering the Oscars red carpet and interviewing Canadian actor Hudson Williams.

While Dimoldenberg’s future plans post-“Chicken Shop Date” remain undisclosed, she is reportedly working on developing a young adult drama series for the BBC. However, she assured her fans of “a few final dates” before bidding farewell to the show for good.
