A woman working as a housekeeper is facing a series of charges following an alleged break-in incident north of Calgary last month, after previously being charged with theft from another residence in August, as per RCMP reports.
The break-in was reported on September 18 in Carstairs, located approximately 55 kilometers north of Calgary, according to the RCMP. The homeowners reported that their residence was burglarized while they were absent, with gold, silver, and other valuable items being taken.
Based on surveillance footage obtained from a nearby establishment, authorities identified the suspect as a 69-year-old housekeeper who resides in the neighboring town of Didsbury.
It is alleged that the woman pawned off stolen items, including gold and silver, from the property, resulting in a profit of around $87,000. Subsequently, RCMP conducted a search at her Didsbury residence on Tuesday, uncovering identity papers and illicit tobacco products.
The accused is now facing six charges, including break and enter, theft exceeding $5,000, property damage under $5,000, and possession of unstamped tobacco with the intent to distribute. She is scheduled to appear in court in Didsbury on October 19.
Furthermore, the same individual had previously faced theft charges from a rural property in Mountain View County on August 3. In that case, she was accused of stealing items from a household where she worked as a housekeeper and had tampered with the security system. She was apprehended, her vehicle was confiscated, and the stolen goods were recovered.
At the time of the previous incident, she was identified as a resident of Cremona, a town in central Alberta, and was charged with theft under $5,000 and unlawful entry into a dwelling.
