Military Time triumphed over Brachetto in a thrilling finish to seize the $500,000 Prince of Wales Stakes at Fort Erie, Ontario. Guided by the young jockey Fraser Aebly, Military Time held a strong third position throughout the race before accelerating past Brachetto and Keepmypowderdry at the conclusion at the Fort Erie Racetrack.
Aebly expressed his excitement post-race, stating, “He was fighting for me the whole race, it was crazy.” The Prince of Wales Stakes, the second event in the Canadian Triple Crown series, kept fans on the edge of their seats until the very end. With a tight field of eight contenders, the race saw Military Time, Brachetto, and Keepmypowderdry vying for the lead down the final stretch. Ultimately, Military Time showcased superior speed, crossing the finish line first in 1:56.
Reflecting on the race, Aebly shared, “He jumped away good at the gate, and I knew I wanted to be forwardly placed because of how the track has been playing today. We found our position and he settled beautifully for me.” Despite the pressure from competitors, Aebly was confident in his horse’s ability to maintain the lead, praising Military Time’s performance.
Military Time, who had previously secured the runner-up position to Luster in the $1-million King’s Plate at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, was established as the early favorite for the Prince of Wales Stakes at 2-1. Brachetto clinched the second spot, with Buium coming in third and Keepmypowderdry finishing fourth in the competitive field of eight horses.
