Three-time Olympian Michelle Plouffe has decided to end her retirement and rejoin Canada’s four-player lineup for the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series event in Bangkok, Thailand. The 33-year-old athlete will team up with her twin sister Katherine Plouffe, along with Cassandra Brown and Paige Crozon for the competition starting this Saturday.
Currently ranked 10th in the women’s series standings, Canada is gearing up for the final phase of the regular season. The top seven teams, in addition to the host country China, will progress to the women’s series final scheduled in Shanghai on September 5-6. Therefore, the Bangkok tournament presents one of the last chances for Canada to accumulate vital qualification points.
Steve Baur, the vice-president and general manager of Canada Basketball’s women’s high performance program, expressed confidence in Plouffe’s return, stating that it strategically aligns with the team’s goals. Plouffe, who officially retired on July 28, 2025, to assume the role of Canada Basketball’s 3×3 performance manager, brings a wealth of experience and success to the team. Notably, she has led Canada to several FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series victories, secured a silver medal at the 2022 FIBA 3×3 World Cup, and achieved a commendable fourth-place finish at the Paris Olympics. This move not only strengthens Canada’s roster at a critical juncture but also allows Plouffe to reignite her competitive spirit on the court.
