A fishing vessel named High Roller III measuring 15 meters is currently stranded on rocks at Bay de Verde after running aground over the weekend. The Coast Guard is actively involved in managing the situation, with response efforts continuing throughout Monday.
In light of the incident, the Quinlan Brothers seafood plant, which is in close proximity to where the boat is grounded, had to temporarily halt operations as a precautionary measure. The plant’s activities were paused to ensure that its seawater intake system remained unaffected by any potential diesel fuel contamination from the stranded vessel.
The Quinlan Brothers seafood plant was preparing to process farmed salmon sourced from Placentia Bay when the incident occurred. The company is taking necessary precautions to safeguard the plant’s wells and water system from any possible fuel leaks.
Despite attempts to reach out, the owner of the vessel has not yet responded to messages regarding the situation.
