Two individuals from Lethbridge, Alberta, have been taken into custody by the Alberta RCMP in connection with a grass fire incident that led to the discovery of human remains earlier this year. Vance Pidborochynski, 37, and Shelby Filkowski, 30, are facing charges of first-degree murder in the case involving the death of Frans Faras, as stated in a recent RCMP announcement. The incident unfolded on Feb. 4 around 8:30 p.m. when emergency services were called to a grass fire located south of Eden Valley, approximately 20 kilometers west of Longview. Following the fire extinguishing operation, responders came across a burnt vehicle containing unidentified human remains, which were later identified as those of Faras, a 24-year-old individual from Calgary. Both accused individuals made a court appearance on Monday and are presently in custody. Filkowski’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 30 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Okotoks, while Pidborochynski is set to appear in a Calgary court on Nov. 5.
