A severe rainfall in Istanbul has led to the city’s shutdown, causing flooding in various areas, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, officials confirmed on Thursday. The heavy downpour on Wednesday submerged homes, businesses, roads, and underpasses, leading to traffic disruptions and chaos in Turkey’s largest urban center. One person was electrocuted at a park in Fatih, while another individual slipped and hit their head in Sariyer. The body of a third victim was found near a park in Kagithane. The Istanbul governor’s office reported three fatalities and four individuals missing. Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi stated that over 2,700 stranded individuals were safely evacuated.
