This incident comes after a similar event in Metro Vancouver where a three-year-old girl was attacked by a black bear on her home’s back deck in Maple Ridge. In that case, a parent intervened, scaring off the bear, and the child was airlifted to B.C. Children’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The bear was later euthanized by RCMP officers as a precautionary measure.
