The vigil took place a day after authorities confirmed that the remains found during a recent search belonged to the missing teenager, who had been absent since June 30.
Addressing the attendees, Flett’s mother, Danica Moore, emphasized the importance of remembering her daughter beyond the circumstances of her passing. She described Peyton as a gentle, strong, and independent individual who adored the color purple, reading, drawing, and playing Roblox with her siblings. Peyton also harbored dreams of exploring the world, with a particular interest in visiting New York.
The discovery of Flett’s remains near the 300 block of 40th Street East led to a confirmed identity through an autopsy. The Prince Albert Police Service’s major crimes unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding her death. During the vigil, Police Chief Patrick Nogier expressed condolences to the family and pledged ongoing collaboration with First Nations and community leaders as the investigation progresses.
Moore concluded the evening with a heartfelt message to fellow parents, urging them to cherish every moment with their children, emphasizing the preciousness of all children regardless of their mood.
