The Toronto Raptors and Los Angeles Clippers have reached an agreement on a trade involving star forward Kawhi Leonard returning to Toronto. The Raptors officially announced the deal on Monday evening, simply stating “He back” along with a photo of Leonard in his #2 jersey.
ESPN’s Shams Charania was the first to report the trade agreement, which would see the Clippers acquiring all-star forward Brandon Ingram, guard Gradey Dick, as well as future draft picks including unprotected first-round picks in 2031 and 2033, a 2027 first-round pick swap, and two second-round picks.
The trade had been delayed pending an NBA investigation into Leonard and the Clippers for potential salary-cap violations. The investigation concluded on September 2, with Leonard being fined $700,000 US but not facing suspension or contract voiding.
During the investigation, Leonard, Ingram, and Dick began engaging with their respective new teams within NBA rules. Leonard attended Kyle Lowry’s news conference at OVO Athletic Centre, while Ingram was seen at a Clippers summer league game in Las Vegas.
Leonard, who played a key role in the Raptors’ 2019 championship victory, had a standout season with the Clippers in 2025-26, averaging 27.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.9 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game. Ingram, on the other hand, had a strong season in Toronto before being sidelined by injury during the playoffs.
Dick’s performance saw a decline in the previous NBA season, with reduced playing time and career-low averages. Leonard is set to address the media at the Raptors’ media day on September 28.
