Newly released documents from the US Justice Department have uncovered conversations between Jeffrey Epstein and his associates, shedding light on his relationship with former US President Donald Trump. In one exchange, Epstein mentioned to Steve Bannon, a key adviser to Trump, that Trump would wake up sweating over their friendship.
The documents also reveal a close correspondence between Epstein and Bannon, with discussions ranging from politics to travel plans. Bannon even sought to use Epstein’s plane for travel arrangements, showcasing their friendly relationship.
In another conversation, Epstein remarked to Bannon about Trump’s reaction to their friendship causing him to wake up in a sweat. The context of this exchange remains unclear due to redactions in the documents. Additionally, other communications in the documents mentioned Trump’s actions, including threats to remove the Federal Reserve Chairman.
Epstein also communicated with Kathy Ruemmler, a lawyer and former Obama White House official, expressing mixed views about Trump. While cautioning against demonizing Trump, Epstein referred to him as a “maniac.”
Despite Trump’s appearances in the documents, there is no evidence of wrongdoing on his part in relation to Epstein. In response to the released documents, Trump claimed they exonerated him and threatened legal action against Epstein’s estate and other critics whom he accused of attempting to damage his political career.
During a flight to Florida, Trump told reporters that Epstein and another individual were conspiring against him, hinting at possible legal action. He emphasized that the emails cleared him of any accusations and countered the hopes of those on the “radical left.”
The documents provide insights into the relationships and conversations involving Epstein, Bannon, and Trump, but do not implicate the President in any wrongdoing related to Epstein.
