The Ottawa Senators secured a 2-1 win against the Philadelphia Flyers, with Carter Yakemchuk scoring his first goal of the season, which turned out to be the game-winner. Yakemchuk’s power-play goal broke the tie with seven minutes left in the game, leaving the Flyers still seeking their first win this season.
Matvei Michkov from Philadelphia was the only player to score against Linus Ullmark, who made 29 saves, while Joseph Woll stopped 24 shots for the Flyers. This game kicked off a busy period for the Flyers, with three games scheduled in four nights.
In the first period, the Senators had four power-play chances but could only muster five shots on goal during those opportunities. Nick Cousins opened the scoring for Ottawa at even strength by redirecting a Tyler Kleven shot past Woll midway through the period.
During the game, William Eklund exited in the first period following a collision with Simon Benoit along the boards, favoring his left leg and needing assistance off the ice. Philadelphia equalized with a power-play goal in the second period, where a shot by Trevor Zegras managed to slip past Ullmark, allowing Michkov to tap it in.
Michael Bunting debuted for the Flyers after joining the team recently, while Ottawa defenseman Hoyt Stanley made his NHL debut.
