Parks Canada has shut down a section of the Ä’äy Chù Valley within Kluane National Park and Reserve near Haines Junction, Yukon following an incident where a wolf attacked a visitor, resulting in minor injuries. The closure affects numerous popular hiking trails in the park’s northern area, such as Bullion Plateau, Sheep Creek, Shepherd’s Knoll, Ä’äy Chù East, and Ä’äy Chù West.
Reports revealed that a young, solitary wolf displayed “bold behavior,” which included trailing individuals and interacting with personal belongings. Parks Canada issued a bulletin on Friday detailing these incidents. Presently, resource conservation personnel are evaluating the circumstances, as confirmed by Parks Canada on Sunday.
The federal agency emphasized that conflicts between humans and wolves are exceedingly uncommon. Visitors are encouraged to contact the Kluane National Park and Reserve Visitor Centre, situated within the Da Kų Cultural Centre, at 867-634-5134 to report any wildlife sightings.
