Yukon Hospitals has successfully met various quality and safety standards required to maintain their accreditation status. The recent decision by Accreditation Canada acknowledges the significant progress made by hospital staff.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, the corporation commended its team for their unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality care to the local communities. The statement highlighted the ongoing efforts towards continuous improvement to ensure that Yukon residents receive top-notch healthcare services.
After losing its accreditation in May, the corporation regained it following an appeal of the initial decision. The earlier revocation of accreditation had sparked criticism from the territorial government, particularly from Health Minister Brad Cathers, who deemed it a misstep.
The latest development follows a supplementary assessment conducted by Accreditation Canada this autumn to address previous shortcomings identified within the organization. Out of the 29 criteria assessed, Yukon Hospitals met all but one, which pertained to air exchanges in operating rooms, as outlined in a detailed report.
The next comprehensive accreditation evaluation is scheduled for May, marking a pivotal milestone for the hospital’s continued commitment to upholding quality standards in healthcare delivery.
