Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for parts of southwestern Quebec, including Montreal and the Montérégie region, set for Tuesday. Rainfall amounts ranging from 40 to 60 millimetres are anticipated, starting in the morning and persisting through Tuesday night. The weather authority explains on its official website that a nearly stationary warm front linked to a low-pressure system may result in significant rainfall in the area. The agency cautions that the excessive rainfall could lead to water accumulation on roads and in low-lying areas, potentially causing reduced visibility at times and sudden visibility changes.
In addition to Montreal and the Montérégie region, the Eastern Townships and the Bois-Francs area are also expected to experience substantial rainfall on Tuesday, prompting Environment Canada to release a special weather statement for that region. Rainfall warnings are typically issued when there is an expectation of noteworthy impacts due to the volume of rainfall forecasted.
