Cineplex is set to showcase all six episodes of the popular queer romance series, “Heated Rivalry,” in theaters across Canada in early November. This move is part of a wider agreement that will also bring the show to the big screens in the U.S., the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand.
Canadian viewers have the option to indulge in a marathon screening of the entire first season on Nov. 8 or watch two episodes together on Nov. 6, 10, and 11. Fans can enjoy the opportunity to “reheat” the Crave/HBO series, which is Canadian-made, at select theaters, allowing them to revisit their favorite episodes or the entire season. Further details can be found on Cineplex’s website.
In the U.S., the screenings of all six episodes are scheduled to take place in over 650 theaters, starting from November 6th. The series, based on Rachel Reid’s novel, revolves around the on-ice rivalry and off-ice relationship between hockey stars Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie).
There have been mixed reactions from fans on social media regarding the screenings. Some expressed excitement, while others raised concerns about ticket prices. Despite the feedback, the screenings serve as a refresher ahead of the upcoming second season, expected to premiere in spring 2027, although the exact date is yet to be disclosed.
Additionally, series creator Jacob Tierney has recently released a book titled “I’ll Believe in Anything: The Making of Heated Rivalry,” providing a behind-the-scenes look into the show’s production with annotated scripts and exclusive material.
