Osam Ali decided to enter the race for city council in Ward 8 just before the filing deadline, citing the limited competition in the west-end ward as his motivation. As a software engineer, Ali expressed his intention to do his best as a candidate and, if elected, serve the city effectively. This move came shortly before the deadline for nomination papers for the upcoming local elections on Oct. 26, where Ali previously ran in 2018, finishing sixth in the ward. He emphasized his commitment to civic engagement and community empowerment to contribute to making London one of the leading cities in the southwest region.
Joining Ali in the last-minute filings was Paul Gray, who submitted his candidacy for multiple Thames Valley District School Board wards. Gray, a repeat candidate, aims to focus on enhancing school safety and improving student reading scores if elected. Despite the current limitations imposed on school board trustees due to provincial intervention, Gray remains optimistic about bringing fresh ideas and eventually seeing the restoration of their powers.
