The Canadian team is also vying for an Olympic qualification. They are set to face Mexico on Friday, with a potential matchup against either Cuba or the Dominican Republic on Saturday for a chance to compete in the LA28 Olympics, where the United States has already secured a spot.
In preparation for the upcoming Olympic qualification events, Canada strategically utilized the game on Wednesday to rest key players and provide valuable international exposure to others. The Canadians started strongly, holding early leads before the Americans gradually seized control to claim the first set. The second set saw the U.S. take an early lead, but Canada fought back, ultimately losing on the Americans’ second set point due to a crucial block by Jake Hanes.
The Canadians continued to challenge the U.S. throughout the match. They saved a set point in the third set and clinched a thrilling 27-25 victory with decisive plays by Xander Wassenaar Ketrzynski. Riding on this momentum, Canada secured a comfortable 25-17 win in the fourth set, forcing a tiebreaker.
